The Consul General in New York Angel Angelov visited, along with other Consuls General, the capital of New York State, Albany, to have meetings with political leaders and to visit scientific laboratories. The visit was organized with the assistance of the Empire State Development (a governmental organization of the state of New York, aimed at supporting and developing the economy of the state) and the Society of Foreign Consuls in New York, of which Consulates General in New York are members.

The two-day visit was aimed at presenting to the Consuls General the economic and academic opportunities for cooperation throughout the state, as well as at establishing working contacts with the political leadership of the state.

The diplomats were received by the New York State Governor Kathy Hochul (the first woman elected governor of New York State) and the leaders of both Houses of the State Legislature.

The Consuls General visited the Port of Albany, where the largest wind turbine manufacturing plant in the US is under construction, as well as a number of university centers for nanotechnology, biotechnology, medical technology, environmental protection technology, electronic game development, etc.
