Deteriorating weather situation in Slovakia

According to the Embassy of Bulgaria in Slovakia, the weather conditions in the south-western part of Slovakia aredeteriorating because of rising water levels of theDanube and Moravarivers. In Bratislava, where the level of the Danube already has reachedalmost 10 meters, a stateof emergency was declared. In theDevin and Devin Nová Ves areas, there has been flooding and streets have been closed. Currently no casualties or damage to property have been reported.

The highest, third level, of risk of floods has been declared forBratislava, Devin, Devin Nová Ves and Vysoká pri Morave. A second-degree riskof flooding has been declared for the areas of Kormano, Gabčíkovo, Medvedyov and Sturovo.

Shipping throughout the Slovak section of the Danube has beenstopped. It is expected that the river will reach its highest level tomorrow, June 6.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises those travelling through Slovakia to carefully monitor current weather conditions on theSlovak Hydro-Meteorological Service website, www.shmu.sk and to strictly comply with the instructions of local authorities.
