The Bulgarian documentary "Hotel Paradise" directed by Sofia Tzavella took the Social Documentary Golden Award in the "documentaries with social themes" category at the seventeenth international TV festival in Shanghai. Its rivals were films from Italy, Germany, Holland and Spain. The award-winning film tells a story about integration, love, sadness, and a wedding of a gipsy.

Sofia Tzavella is the original author of numerous investigative TV reports and interviews for one of a few high-profile independent view Bulgarian political and social TV shows 'Panorama'. She is the author of one book, and director and scriptwriter of three documentaries, including NDE or the Stories about Death. She is distinguished as an outstanding author for media objectivity by the Friedrich Herbert Foundation.

The Shanghai TV Festival, carried out since 1986, is one of a handful of festivals in the world combining  awards, program market and forums into one platform. It is one of the most important international events in Asian TV industry.
