The Bulgarian Government has extended the COVID-19 related domestic restrictions and certain international entry restrictions until at least 30 April 2021.

As from 1 March 2020, road vehicles with a total technically permissible maximum weight exceeding 3,5 tonnes circulating on paid road sections in Bulgaria will have to pay for their use distance-based road charges – toll. The toll replaces the electronic vignette for heavy vehicles and buses.

An electronic system (e-vignette and toll), as a modern way of charging for the use of the national road network, is introduced in Bulgaria as of 1 January 2019. On 17th December the governor of Sofia District Ilian Todorov visited Liege and met with the acting governor of the Province of Liege Mrs Catherine Delcourt. He was accompanied by Her Excellency Ambassador Maya Dobreva and the Honorary Consul of Bulgaria for the Walloon Region Luc Sougné. The meeting took place in the Provincial Palace where Mr Todorov and Mrs Delcourt discussed the possibilities for cooperation in different spheres of mutual interest. A memorandum for cooperation in the field of public security and civil protection was signed.

A seminar for Belgian companies on the economic opportunities, related to the structural funds in Bulgaria and Romania under the current programming period 2014-2020 took place on 28 November 2018 in Brussels. The event was organized by the Flanders Investment and Trade Agency (FIT) and the Walloon Agency on Export and Investment (AWEX).

On 23 October the Bulgarian Embassy in Brussels hosted a presentation of Bulgarian bio-products. Diplomats, representatives of different Belgian media, bio shops and restaurants, as well as a lot friends of Bulgaria enjoyed the opportunity to taste extraordinary milk and meat products, juices, bio wines, snacks, jams and etc. Producers of high-quality natural cosmetics fascinated the guests with their products.

The Bulgarian Folklore Ensemble Bravo from Sliven participated in the 58th edition of the International folklore festival in the Belgian town of Namur.
