In her opening remarks, Ambassador Karadjova underscored the importance of an inclusive, transparent, and Member State-driven process, expressing appreciation for the trust placed in her by the President of the United Nations General Assembly.
Ambassador Karadjova highlighted the evolving global development landscape—marked by financial constraints, rising inequalities, geopolitical tensions, and climate challenges—and emphasized the growing role of South-South and triangular cooperation as key drivers of sustainable and inclusive development.
With only four years remaining to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the review takes place at a critical juncture. It aims to:
▪️ assess progress and identify gaps in the implementation of BAPA+40
▪️ ensure coherence with recent global commitments and intergovernmental processes
▪️ outline a forward-looking vision for strengthened international cooperation
The process seeks to reinforce South-South and triangular cooperation as essential complements to North-South cooperation, contributing to a more effective and sustainable global development framework.
Bulgaria remains committed to promoting dialogue, partnership, and collective action within the United Nations system.
