The Consul General of Bulgaria in New York, Angel Angelov, took part in a working breakfast organized by the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York on February 4, 2023. The meeting was attended by congressmen, politicians from New York, leaders of the Jewish community, diplomats, etc. The invitation was extended through the leadership of the American Jewish Committee for New York.

New York Senator Chuck Schumer, leader of the Senate Democratic Caucus since 2016, and seven New York representatives in the House of Representatives made brief addresses to the guests. All addressed issues of importance to the American Jewish community.

The event was attended by a number of influential politicians from New York, Manhattan Mayor Mark Levin, as well as the consuls general of Israel, Turkey, Japan, Poland, Kosovo and Germany. Israeli Consul General Asaf Zamir made a speech welcoming the guests on behalf of the Government of Israel.

The presence of a large number of high-ranking politicians and leaders of the American Jewish community gave the Consul General of Bulgaria the opportunity to meet some of them and invite them to the planned 30 March 2023 commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the rescue of Bulgarian Jews in The Center for Jewish Studies in Manhattan.
