Bulgarian Concert Evenings in New York

The Consulate General of Bulgaria in New York continues and strengthens its cooperation with the initiative Bulgarian Concert Evenings in New York, which started almost 17 years ago and organized a number of events:

  • A concert by the award-winning pianist Nadejda Vlaeva, who was declared “A Musician of the Year” for 2021 through a survey of the Bulgarian National Radio “Alegro Vivace” program for classical music (December 7, 2022).
  • A concert at the Bulgarian Consulate General featuring renowned Bulgarian and foreign musicians – Ms. Lora Chekoratova, piano (the first Bulgarian holding a PHD degree from the prestigious performing arts Juilliard School); Mr. Georgy Valtchev, violin; Mr. Zlatomir Fung, cello, and Mr. Kenji Bunch, a composer and performer, viola (November 17, 2022).
  • An evening in remembrance of the flutist Ms. Ginka Ortega at the Bulgarian Consulate General, featuring world renowned representatives of the Bulgarian musical community in the US, incl. Ms. Pavlina Dokovska, Chair of the Piano Department at the prestigious Mannes School of Music in New York City, and Ms. Stefka Evstatieva, opera singer (October 25, 2022).
  • The Consul General welcomed the audience at the Opening Night Gala of Bulgarian Concert Evenings in New York at Carnegie Hall (October 24, 2022).

Four concerts of Bulgarian Concert Evenings in New York have already been planned to be held in the first half of next year at the Bulgarian Consulate General (January 18, February 28, March 22 and June 7, 2023), as well as a special concert at the Center for Jewish History in Manhattan to mark the 80th anniversary of the rescue of the Bulgarian Jews (March 30, 2023). The Consul General will be a guest at the Closing Night Gala of Bulgarian Concert Evenings at Carnegie Hall marking the end of the season.
