In connection with the accession of Bulgaria to the Schengen area on 31.03.2024, the Consulate General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Edirne informs that the national visas for short-term residence (type C), issued by the Republic of Bulgaria and Romania before 31.03.2024, remain valid for their period of validity. However, holders of these national short-stay visas will only be able to travel to the Republic of Bulgaria, Romania and also to the Republic of Cyprus, but not to other Schengen member states.

Due to the upcoming official holidays in the Republic of Bulgaria (Day of Unification and Day of Independence), the Consulate General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Edirne will remain closed on 06.09.2023 and 22.09.2023. Hotline for emergencies with Bulgarian citizens: 0090 533 629 81 64.

We inform all concerned Turkish citizens that inquiries about Bulgarian citizenship and reserving appointments for submitting documents and conducting interviews are done via email [email protected].

A formal e-mail was received from the Turkish İş Bank in which they inform us that, ‘‘due to the military operation initiated by Russia in Ukraine, many countries are imposing sanctions on Russia and some international companies have limited their activities in the country. Within the scope of the decisions taken by the most important international card payment companies Visa and MasterCard, Visa and MasterCard-branded cards issued by Russian banks are no longer supported by their networks.’’
