Welcome to the website of the Consulate General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Edirne!

Founded as a trade agency in 1896, shortly after Prince Ferdinand was recognized as a legitimate Bulgarian ruler by the Ottoman state, the Consulate General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Edirne is one of the oldest diplomatic missions of our country abroad. Nearly 125 years later, the Consulate General in Edirne keeps its strategic place geographically as a bridge between the East and the West and a gateway to the EU.

The main priorities of the Consulate General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Edirne are the activation, deepening and strengthening of the bilateral political, economic and cultural relations with the Republic of Türkiye within the consular district. The efforts of our team are also aimed at promoting cooperation between the public and private sectors of the two countries, increasing trade and developing bilateral relations in all areas of mutual interest. A specific place in our work is occupied and the importance for cross-border cooperation projects at local, regional and national level in accordance with the strategic affiliation of our country to the EU and NATO. With the assistance of the Consulate General, a number of meetings are organized with the aim of establishing new contacts and providing the necessary conditions for starting or upgrading already existing activities.

The human factor is the basis of the activity of the Consulate General, so the priority is to provide consular assistance to Bulgarian citizens who are in short or long term in the consular district - Edirne, Kirklareli and Tekirdag.

The development of contacts between the two peoples, the promotion of cultural and educational exchanges and cooperation at the expert level are among the other areas in which targeted efforts are being made.

Our diplomatic mission also takes care of the preservation of Bulgarian cultural and historical monuments in the Thracian region of Türkiye and especially of the Bulgarian Orthodox churches in Edirne "St. Georgi ”and“ St. st konstantin and Elena".
