Bulgaria presented its XXIII-XXV consolidated report under the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination during the 111th session of the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination in Geneva on 28 and 29 November 2023.

The discussion was focused on Bulgaria's implementation of the international principles and norms on the elimination of all forms of discrimination, the prevention and combating of hate speech and hate crimes, and measures to improve the access of persons from vulnerable groups to education, employment and health care.

The session was attended by a high level Bulgarian delegation led by the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Bulgaria to the UN Geneva, Ambassador Yuri Sterk, who presented relevant Bulgarian policies and shared good practices related to the implementation of the Convention by our country and answered questions of the Committee members.

The UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination is a body of 18 independent experts who monitor the implementation of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination by States Parties. All States Parties are required to prepare and submit periodic reports to the Committee on the implementation of their obligations.
