Еvent dedicated to World Children's Day and the centenary of the Geneva Declaration on the Rights of the Child

On 15 November at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, the Permanent Mission of Bulgaria to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva held an evening dedicated to the World Children's Day and the centenary of the Geneva Declaration on the Rights of the Child, as well as on the occasion of the election of our country as a member of the UN Human Rights Council for the period 2024-2026, with the participation of the world-famous opera soprano and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in Bulgaria, Sonya Yoncheva.

The event was organized in cooperation with the UN Office in Geneva, the Geneva Diplomatic Club and UNICEF.

Opening remarks were delivered by Ms. Tatiana Valovaya, Director General of the UN Office in Geneva, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Bulgaria to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Yuri Sterk and Ambassador Kedra Hassan, Permanent Representative of Djibouti in Geneva and Deputy director of the Diplomatic club in Geneva, followed by a dialogue between Ms. Regina De Dominicis, UNICEF Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia and Ms. Sonya Yoncheva, UNICEF Soprano and National Ambassador in Bulgaria, presenting a vision of her mission and her dedication to the cause of ensuring that every child has the opportunity to unconditionally  exercise its rights.

The main part of the evening were the performances of Sonya Yoncheva - together with the children's orchestra "MusicEnsemble Plus" of the Geneva Conservatory, solo and accompanied by pianist Todd Cambourne. The unparalleled mastery of the Bulgarian soprano charmed the numerous guests of the event - heads of diplomatic missions and diplomats, officials of the UN and other international organizations, local citizens, Bulgarians and friends of our country, the audience unanimously rose to its feet in a standing ovation expressing its appreciation to Sonia Yoncheva.
