The concert, organized by the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Bulgaria to the UN and other International Organisations in Geneva with the cooperation of the Bulgarian Orthodox Parish “Nativity of the Blessed Virgin”, the “Concordia for Music and Art” Association and the Bulgarian-Swiss Association for Culture, Traditions and Education “Kanatitza”, took place on September 23, 2023 at Espace "Madeleine" in Geneva.

The five outstanding and internationally renowned soloists – Svetlin Rusev (violin), William Sebastier (bandoneon), Lionel Monet (piano), Irina-Kalina Gudeva (double bass) and George Vassilev (guitar) – shared their passion for the music of the Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla and his revolutionary style "new tango" ("Tango Nuevo") with the numerous guests of the concert, including heads of diplomatic missions and diplomats from the missions of UN member states in Geneva, employees of international organizations and representatives of the Bulgarian community in Geneva. Their exciting performances were welcomed with vivid applause and standing ovation from the audience.

The concert was also dedicated to Bulgaria's candidacy for membership in the UN Human Rights Council (2024-2026) and was opened with an address by the country's Permanent Representative, Ambassador Yuri Sterk. The Head of the Bulgarian Permanent Mission emphasized the importance of the proclamation of our country's independence in 1908 , which broke our its vassal dependence on the Ottoman Empire and raised it to the status of a sovereign state, actor on equal footing with other sovereign nations in European and world affairs. In his speech Ambassador Sterk also presented the priorities that Bulgaria will pursue if elected to the HRC.
