Cluster Munitions Convention – Republic of Bulgaria accomplished its obligations

On 12 September 2023, at a ceremony, held during the Eleventh Annual Meeting of the Member States Parties to the Convention on Cluster Munitions (adopted at the Diplomatic conference on cluster munitions in Dublin on 30 May 2008) from 11 to 14 September 2023 at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, the Head of the Bulgarian delegation ambassador Yuri Sterk, Permanent representative to the UN Office and other International Organizations in Geneva, handed over to the President of the Meeting the document (Declaration of completion), which certifies that the process of destruction of the Cold War cluster munitions stockpiles, has been completed.

This marks the fulfilment of Bulgaria’s obligations in accordance with Article 3 of the Convention on Cluster Munitions, as well as with the Act on the Implementation of the Convention on Cluster Munitions and the Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling, Production and Transfer of Anti-Personnel Mines and on their Destruction, adopted by the National Assembly in November 2015.
