16 June 2021 News

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Labour and Social Policy Galab Donev made a video address to the participants in the 109th International Labour Conference. Tripartite delegations from all Member States of the International Labour Organization (ILO) take part at the high-level forum, which is being held entirely virtually for the first time in the history of the ILO.

In his speech during the plenary session on June 15, 2021, Minister Donev underlined that Bulgaria's priority in the labour and social sphere is to recover from the negative effects on employment caused by COVID-19 and to improve the quality of the workforce, including by providing more opportunities for quality education using the means of digital technologies, as well as the development of new flexible forms of work and teleworking. In his speech before the ILO delegates, he also emphasized the support for the vulnerable groups and presented the measures Bulgaria introduced to maintain the employment. He pointed out that a guarantee program in the amount of 1.25 billion euros will be implemented to help small and medium-sized businesses and self-employed persons.
