International Conference "Transformation in Central and Eastern Europe 1989 -2019: successes and failures"

At the invitation of the Faculty of Political Science at the University of Warsaw, on October 24 and 25 this year, Warsaw hosted an international academic conference on the democratic development of Central and Eastern European countries 30 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall and the end of bloc confrontation. Prominent scientists and young political scientists from the countries of the former Eastern Bloc, USA and Western Europe and other countries were invited to participate in the conference. Bulgaria was represented by Associate Professor Plamen Ralchev, Head of the Department of International Relations at UNWE, as well as by young researchers Gergana Tosheva, Lyubomira Popova and Antoaneta Getova from Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski".

Special guests of the conference were the ambassadors of Bulgaria, Estonia, Germany, Lithuania, Latvia and Romania, who participated in the so-called. "Ambassador Panel", sharing with the academic audience their opinions and assessments of the achievements of the countries of the region in the past three decades after the historic  year - 1989. Bulgarian Ambassador to Poland, Latvia and Lithuania Emil Yalnazov participated in the panel discussion.
