The continuous efforts of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Ottawa to join the Canadian project, aiming to preserve the memory of the soldiers and officers who lost their lives during the First World War (WWI) were successfully accomplished.
This was acknowledged by Mr. Robert Thomson, President of the Canadian non-governmental organization "The World Remembers", which initiated the project in direct collaboration with the Canadian authorities. Now the data on the Bulgarian participation in the WWI has been successfully integrated into the exhibition along with the names of 3,095 Bulgarian officers and soldiers who have been killed in action.
The exhibition has two components – a projection kiosk in the central lobby of the Canadian War Museum displaying the names of the military personnel killed during the WWI as well as an interactive table that allows easy access to photo and text material along with search tools for finding lost relative soldiers or officers by their descendants. According to the Research Center of the Canadian War Museum, the same exhibition has been installed in Washington D.C. (USA) as well as at the memorial in Vimy Ridge (France), where Canada suffered the most casualties during the WWI.
