The United States Army War College Visits the Permanent Mission of Bulgaria to the United Nations
11 May 2026 NewsAmbassador Gergana Karadjova hosted a discussion dedicated to the role of the United Nations in the context of national security, attended by 24 representatives of the “National Security Staff Ride” program of the United States Army War College (US AWC) in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
The National Security educational visit to New York is taking place from 11 to 15 May 2026 and includes meetings and discussions at several diplomatic missions, among them the Permanent Missions of Estonia and Bulgaria to the United Nations. On the first day of the programme, the representatives of the United States Army visited the Permanent Mission of Bulgaria, with Bulgarian Colonel Ruslan Kolev among the guests.
During the meeting, a number of issues related to Bulgaria’s work at the United Nations, as well as the country’s main priorities and objectives for 2026, were discussed. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of multilateral diplomacy, international cooperation, and the role of the United Nations in addressing contemporary challenges to international peace and security.
The discussion also provided an opportunity for an exchange of views on the current security environment, the need to strengthen the international rules-based order, and the importance of effective dialogue among allies and partners. Bulgaria’s contribution as an active and reliable member of the international community, committed to promoting peace, stability, and sustainable development, was likewise highlighted.
The visit offered an opportunity for an in-depth exchange of expertise and best practices between the representatives of the US AWC and the Bulgarian diplomatic mission to the United Nations, as well as for the presentation of the priorities of Bulgaria’s foreign policy within the framework of the United Nations.
