The Bulgarian Embassy and the National Liberal Club in London held an event on the occasion of 22 September, the Day of the Independence of Bulgaria. The members of this prestigious London Club were informed of the role of the prominent British politician and four-time Prime Minister William Gladstone, who raised his voice in defence of the Bulgarian cause after the April Uprising of 1876 and the right of the Bulgarian People for freedmen and independence.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in the process of implementing a large-scale project, coordinated in advance with all responsible institutions in Bulgaria and the EU, including the implementation and launch of a new version of the National Visa Information System (NVIS).

On 2 May 2024, Ambassador Tihomir Stoytchev handed over copies of his Letters of Credence to Victoria Busby OBE, Vice-Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps and Director of Protocol at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office.

Celebrating Bulgaria’s National Day in London

The Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in London hosted two events in honor of Bulgaria’s National Day. The events took place on March 2 and 3, 2020, and were hosted by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to London H.E. Mr. Marin Raykov.

The Bulgarian Ambassador Meets Students from King’s College London

As from 1 March 2020, road vehicles with a total technically permissible maximum weight exceeding 3,5 tonnes circulating on paid road sections in Bulgaria will have to pay for their use distance-based road charges – toll. The toll replaces the electronic vignette for heavy vehicles and buses.

H.E. Ambassador Marin Raykov, the Rt. Hon. Christopher Pincher MP, FCO Minister of State, and H.E. Ambassador Emma Hopkins spoke at a reception celebrating the 140th anniversary since the establishing of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and the United Kingdom.

Ambassador Marin Raykov took part in a celebration of NATO’s 70th Anniversary, hosted on November 19th by US Ambassador to London, H.E. Mr. Woody Johnson.
