Ambassador Yuri Sterk presented of his letters of credence to the Director-General of the UN Office in Geneva

The new Permanent Representative of the Republic of Bulgaria to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Yuri Sterk, has embarked on his diplomatic mission. Following the presentation of his letters of credence to the Director-General of the UN Office in Geneva, Ms. Tatiana Valovaya, the Bulgarian diplomat and his interlocutor discussed topical issues of the UN current agenda and the challenges facing the organization against the background of a global pandemic and expressed their confidence in the success of the international community's joint efforts to tackle COVID-19 and its consequences. Ambassador Sterk stated that Bulgaria will remain actively involved in key areas of UN cooperation such as the promotion and protection of human rights, disarmament, economic cooperation, implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and others.
