Bulgarian participation in the traditional Christmas charity bazaar of the diplomatic corps

On December 9, 2018, the traditional Christmas charity bazaar of the diplomatic corps was held at the Mariot Hotel in Warsaw. Christmas charity auction is organized annually by the Association of Wives and Spouses of Ambassadors accredited in Warsaw (SHOM) under the patronage of the wife of Polish President Ms. Agata Kornhauser - Duda and aims to raise funds to help needy children, women and older people in disadvantaged position.
This year's the 11th edition of the bazaar was attended by over 50 embassies, the Polish MFA, a number of humanitarian NGOs. Numerous visitors had a wide choice of Christmas souvenirs and gifts, authentic national products, food, beverages and accessories from around the world.
This year the Bulgarian stand was also attractive for visitors with the Christmas souvenirs and decorations, cosmetics from Bulgarian rose, Bulgarian delicacies and wines. The organization of our stand was the work of an enthusiastic group of about 30 volunteers, including the ambassador's wife Mrs. Silviya Nikolaeva, the director of BCI Mrs. Kalina Stancheva, embassy and BCI employees, children, teachers and parents from the Bulgarian school “Dora Gabe”, distributors of Bulgarian goods in Poland. The souvenirs, postcards and Christmas decorations for the Bulgarian stand were hand-crafted by the volunteers of the art-workshop, specially held before the bazaar, with creative director Ms. Ivaila Valkova, a Bulgarian artist living in Poland.
The Bulgarian contribution to the charity funded by the bazaar this year reached a record sum of 6587 zlotys (about 1600 euro), which ranked in the leading group of donors.
