On 1 July 2026 Ambassador Irena Gancheva paid a farewell call on the Chairman of the Senate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani on the occasion of the conclusion of her diplomatic tour of duty in the country.

During the meeting Mr. Gillani expressed his appreciation for Ambassador Gancheva's efforts to promote Bulgaria and foster dialogue and cooperation with Pakistan in areas of mutual interest. Particular emphasis was placed on the important role of parliamentary relations in expanding people-to-people contacts and enhancing exchanges in key fields such as economy, trade, education, science and culture. In this context, both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening cooperation between their parliamentary institutions both on bilateral basis and within international fora which is expected to contribute to the continued development of the traditionally friendly relations between Bulgaria and Pakistan.
