Presentation in Pakistan of the photo exhibition "Ancient Treasures of Bulgaria"

To mark the Day of Bulgarian alphabet, enlightenment and culture, and the Slavic literature, and the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Pakistan, on 3 June 2025 the Embassy of Bulgaria in Islamabad hosted a captivating photo exhibition titled „The Ancient Treasures of Bulgaria“. The event was organized with the support of the Institute for Balkan Studies and Centre of Thracology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in cooperation with the State Institute for Culture to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria.

The photo exhibition was inaugurated by the Bulgarian Ambassador to Pakistan H.E. Mrs. Irena Gancheva who was joined for the ribbon cutting ceremony by Additional Foreign Secretary (Europe) Ambassador Muhammad Ayub, the Chairperson of the National Commission on the Rights of Child Ms. Ayesha Raza Farooq and the Honorary Consul of Bulgaria in KP Province Senator Faisal Saleem Rahman. The highlights of the showcase were presented to the audience by Assist. Prof. Alexandra Milanova, Scientific Coordinator at the Institute for Balkan Studies and Centre of Thracology. The event was attended by more than 130 guests, including high level representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other official institutions of Pakistan, the Dean and members of the Diplomatic Corps in Islamabad, honorary consuls, politicians, public figures, representatives of the cultural, educational, scientific, art circles and the media, as well as Bulgarian citizens residing in Pakistan. The photographs showcasing artistically crafted golden and silver objects were received with admiration and interest by the guests.

„The Ancient Treasures of Bulgaria“ photo exhibition was also showcased at the Al Hamra Arts Council in Lahore. The Provincial Minister for Information and Culture of the Government of Punjab Mrs. Azma Bokhari participated as Chief Guest of the event which took place on 31 May 2025. The Ambassador of Bulgaria to Pakistan H.E. Mrs. Irena Gancheva, Assist. Prof. Alexandra Milanova, Scientific Coordinator at the Institute for Balkan Studies and Centre of Thracology, and Chairman Al Hamra Mr. Razi Ahmed were also in attendance. The photo exhibition was the first Bulgarian event of its kind, taking place in Lahore during the past decades, which signified its important role in the development of the bilateral contacts and cooperation with Pakistan in this field.
