100 Years of Embracing Gibran Khalil Gibran’s Universal Message

Upon a joint invitation by Gibran National Committee and Notre Dame University Beirut, representatives of the Bulgarian Embassy in Beirut participated in an internationally attended conference „A 100 Years of Embracing His Universal Message”. Main subject during the interactive panel discussions of the two days’ event, 29-30 April 2024, was the eternal value of the messages of Khalil Gibran in his book “The Prophet” interpreted today, more than 100 years after its first edition, in the USA, elaborated against challenges of contemporary world.

The Conference was attended by writers, painters, interpreters in English and Arabic, music performers, film directors, screen writers and actors, university tutors, students and others - all caring the notion about the eternal wisdom embedded in the works of the world famous author.

A keynote speaker during the opening panel of the first day was Prof. Maya Tsenova, tutor in Arabic at the Sofia University St. Kl. Ohridski and strong promoter of Gibran’s artwork and significant contributor for the first Bulgarian Development Project with the Gibran Musem in Bsharri in 2022.

Ambassador Iassen Tomov, together with the Ambassador of India and special representative of the German Embassy in Beirut participated in a native reading session of thematic extracts from Gibran’s book “The Prophet” devoted to sharing with the audience of personal reflections, triggered by the messages in the book.
