On 15 March 2024 the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in the Lebanese Republic opened on its Facebook site a condolences post on the occasion of the Days of National Mourning to honor the memory of His Holiness the Bulgarian Patriarch and Metropolitan Neophyte of Sofia.

The Patriarch died on the night of March 13 after a long illness. The resigned Council of Ministers declared March 15 (Friday) and March 16 (Saturday) as Days of National Mourning.

According to the decision of the Holy Synod, today at 9:00 a.m. the mortal remains of the Most Holy Patriarch will be exposed for veneration in the Patriarchal Cathedral "St. Alexander Nevsky". Tomorrow, March 16 (Saturday) at 9:30 a.m., a requiem mass and funeral service will be celebrated. With a lithic procession, the body of the blessed patriarch will be carried from the Patriarchal Cathedral "St. Alexander Nevsky" to the Metropolitan Cathedral "St. Sunday', where it will be laid to rest forever.
