On May 7, 2019 in Turku, Finland, a ceremony was held to officially open the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Bulgaria with jurisdiction over the regions of Varsinais-Suomi and Satakunta.

In a short speech, Honorary Consul Ms. Ieva Salmela thanked for the high honor and committed to actively promote and strengthen the economic and cultural ties with Bulgaria. The event was attended by representatives of the Turku municipality, the local police, big business, honorary consuls of other countries, members of the Finnish-Bulgarian Friendship Society and Bulgarians living in Turku, Pori and other places in the consular region.
