The Joint Chairmanship of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia of the Berlin Process for the Western Balkans organizes a Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, VTC format, on 9 of November 2020
05 November 2020 NewsMinisters of Foreign Affairs‘ meeting is to take place on 9 of November 2020 as part of the 2020 Berlin Process for the Western Balkans’ first Joint Chairmanship of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia.
Due to the fragility of the situation, attributed to the Covid-19 pandemic, the meeting will be held on-line in VTC format, hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria.
The meeting will be co-chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria Ekaterina Zaharieva and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia Bujar Osmani.
The Foreign Ministers‘ Meeting is an established format within the framework of the Berlin Process, which precedes and prepares the Sofia Summit of the Process on 10 of November 2020.
On 9 of November 2020 at 11:00 AM (10:00 AM CET) Ekaterina Zaharieva and Bujar Osmani will greet the participants in the forum. A plenary session will also be held to discuss the Berlin Process challenges and opportunities with regard to the soft measures to build trust and improve the regional cooperation, including through better people-to-people connectivity and mobility in and with the Western Balkans, with a special focus on Youth and Civil society.
The Berlin Process is a political-diplomatic initiative launched in August 2014 by German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Participants in the process are the countries of the Western Balkans - Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, the Republic of North Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, and its co-sponsors and supporters are some EU member states such as Germany, France, Austria, Italy, Poland, Greece, Croatia, Slovenia and Bulgaria as well as Great Britain. In addition to the countries of the Berlin Process, representatives of the European Commission, the Regional Cooperation Council and the Regional Office for Youth Cooperation in Tirana (RYCO) will also take part in this online meeting.
After the video conference of the Foreign Ministers of the Berlin Process, a press conference of the two co-chairs Ekaterina Zaharieva and Bujar Osmani will be held online.
The press conference will start at 13:30 (12:30 CET ) and will be broadcasted live on the account of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/MFABulgaria).
