Bulgarian participation in the EU Cultural Festival in Ottawa, Canada

On June 15, 2025 the traditional Ottawa EU Cultural Festival was held at the Canadian Museum of History big lawn. The Festival made it possible once again for the local citizens to get a direct access to the culture, the customs and the traditions of the EU Member States and the uniqueness and the cultural diversity of Europe. The representatives of the EU diplomatic missions provided traditional souvenirs, culinary products, information materials, etc. to the numerous local public.
The Bulgarian stand was set with the kind assistance of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria to Canada and the volunteers from the Bulgarian diaspora from the Ottawa - Gatineau District. All interested were provided not only with information and traditional products from Bulgaria but with a special presentation and wine-tasting of selected Bulgarian wines, including organic and bio-wine. This made the Bulgarian stand a focal point till the end of the event.
The Festival program had a strong cultural and musical touch, as all visitors had the opportunity to see live ethnographic elements and folklore customs of the countries presented. The participation of the local Bulgarian folklore ensemble "Rodina" turned into one of the main event’s highlights. "Rodina" presented typical Bulgarian dances and folk songs, and launched a demonstration of "Pravo horo" to which many visitors also joined.
