Mayor of Ottawa proclaims 24 of May 2024 as Bulgarian Cultural Heritage Day
27 May 2024 NewsOn May 23, 2024, the Mayor of City of Ottawa Mr. Mark Sutcliffe proclaimed 24 May 2024 as Bulgarian Cultural Heritage Day in the Canadian capital. The proclamation was launched thanks to the efforts of the National Capital Region Bulgarian Community and the kind assistance of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Ottawa.
The document proclaims May 24 as the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian alphabet, education and culture, and of the Slavic literature. The celebration of the rich cultural heritage that our alphabet carries, regarded as an enduring symbol of the linguistic diversity and a renewed commitment to the beauty and the resilience of the Bulgarian linguistic legacy, is also proclaimed.
