Ambassador Yuri Sterk met with the Director General of the International Labour Organisation

The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Bulgaria to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Yuri Sterk, held a protocol meeting with the Director General of the International Labour Organisation /ILO/ Guy Ryder.

The impact of the COVID-19 crisis in the economic and social sphere, the inclusive and sustainable recovery of the world of work and the leading role of the International Labour Organisation leading role in the global efforts to ensure decent work and social justice were among the main topics of the conversation between Ambassador Sterk and the Director-General of the ILO.

Ambassador Sterk congratulated the Director General of the ILO for the excellent organisation of the first ever fully virtual International Labour Conference /ILC/. He reiterated the support of our country for the adoption and implementation of the Global call to action for a human-centred recovery from the COVID-19 crisis, adopted during the 109th ILC, and stated Bulgaria's readiness to actively participate in key areas of ILO action such as the elimination of child and forced labour.
