The challenges of digitalisation in healthcare, highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic, open up exciting new opportunities for bilateral cooperation between technological and IT companies from Bulgaria and Sweden.

The traditions in technology development and innovation in Sweden together with the high-quality and cost-competitive edge of the fast-growing IT sector in Bulgaria have enormous potential for successful future bilateral partnerships”.

The Bulgarian Embassy in Sweden took part in the traditional marking of the Day of European Languages, organized by the Representation of the European Commission in Stockholm on September 28, 2020. This year the event was held online due to the ongoing restrictions in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As from 1 March 2020, road vehicles with a total technically permissible maximum weight exceeding 3,5 tonnes circulating on paid road sections in Bulgaria will have to pay for their use distance-based road charges – toll. The toll replaces the electronic vignette for heavy vehicles and buses.

Södertörn University in Stockholm conferred an honorary doctorate (doctor honoris causa) to prof. Elena Marushiakova, associate professor at the Institute for Ethnology and Folklore Studies of the Bulgarian Academy of Science and professor at the University St Andrews, where she currently works on a study of the Roma peoples’ civic emancipation in the period between the two World wars of the 20th century – the Roma Inter Bellum project, funded by the European Research Council.

The Bulgarian Christmas song "The Son of God" was performed at the St. Johannes Church in Stockholm at the Christmas concert held on December 17, 2019, on a joint initiative by the Representation of the European Commission and the embassies to Sweden of 12 EU Member States – Bulgaria, Germany, Estonia, Greece, Spain, Italy, Latvia , Hungary, Austria, Poland, Romania and Slovakia.
