Ambassador Maria P. Tzotzorkova presented her Letters of Credence to the President of the Republic of Zambia

On the 5th of May 2022 Ambassador Maria P. Tzotzorkova presented her Letters of Credence to the President of the Republic of Zambia HE Hakainde Hichilema at a ceremony, which took place at the Presidency in Lusaka. During the ceremony Ambassador Tzotzorkova highlighted the traditionally friendly relations between Bulgaria and Zambia, permeated by a spirit of mutual affinity and respect. The Bulgarian diplomat pointed out that the long-standing relations and established understanding between the two people represent a good basis for the enhancement of the political dialogue and the trade and economic cooperation, for which there exists a considerable potential. It was underlined that Bulgaria supports the reform programme of the Zambia Government and its priorities - consolidation of democracy, the rule law and the protection of human rights. A full support was expressed for the projects and initiatives of the European Union in Zambia for attaining of sustainable development, increase of employment opportunities and improvement of the livelihood.

During the meetings Ambassador Tzotzorkova held with the Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Stanley Kakubo and high-ranking officials in the Ministries of Agriculture, Education and Defence the possibilities for deepening of the bilateral cooperation in the sector fields of mutual interest were discussed. The Zambian side expressed readiness for participation in common projects in the spheres of agriculture, education and scientific research. The Bulgarian side greatly appreciated the role of Zambia as a politically stable and democratic country, which is an important partner of Bulgaria in the Southern African Region. During the course of the meetings Ambassador Tzotzorkova raised the issue of including Bulgaria in the Kaza UniVisa Programme, which will create an opportunity for the Bulgarian citizens, travelling for tourism and business to get a joint visa at the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe. The Zambian side shared the understanding that the facilitated travel of the Bulgarian citizens will encourage the contacts between the people of the two countries and will promote the sustainable development and growth of the Zambian tourist sector.
