Visit of Minister Angelkova to Poland

21 February 2020 News

During her working visit to Warsaw, the Minister of Tourism spoke with the chairman of the Polish Tourism Organization, Dr. Robert Andrzejczyk, and discussed the possibilities for developing further cooperation in this field. Bulgaria intends to open a national tourist office in Poland at our embassy in Warsaw. So far our country has two such representations abroad - in Germany and in Russia.

Poland is a very important market for Bulgarian tourism, and the two countries maintain traditionally good intergovernmental and business relations, she said, and emphasized that Polish tourists' visits to Bulgaria have increased in the last two years. In 2019, we welcomed nearly 421,000 Polish tourists and the country ranks ninth in the inbound tourism ranking. Last year, more than 76,000 Bulgarian citizens visited Poland for tourism, an increase of more than 3% from the record for the sector in 2018. There are still many untapped opportunities in this exchange and we are ready to develop them, it became clear. Polish guests mostly choose the options for summer / sea vacations, but Bulgaria also offers many other competitive opportunities for cultural, historical, SPA, winter, golf, culinary and many other types of tourism.

Minister Angelkova participated in a Bulgarian-Polish business forum in Warsaw with the participation of leading experts in the sector and representatives of tourism organizations. During the meeting there were presentations about Bulgarian and Polish tourism, followed by B2B meetings between tour operators, representatives of resorts and hoteliers, as well as with mayors on both sides.

Minister Angelkova also gave a briefing on Polish media, united in the association of journalists writing for tourism Globotter. They have extensive experience as travelers and have been deeply interested in the types of tourism that Bulgaria is developing.

On the second day of his visit to Warsaw, Minister Angelkova met with Minister of Development of Poland Jadwiga Emilewicz.
