PROFESSIONAL WORK EXPERIENCE

By Presidential Decree 65 dated 22nd February, 2021 Mr. Yordanov has been designated as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Federal Republic of Nigeria. On 1st June, 2021 he has presented his Letters of Credence.

By Presidential Decrees 173 dated 13th July, 2021, 180 dated 14th July, 2021, 220 dated 27th August, 2021, and 262 dated 7th October, 2021 he has been designated as Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, Republic of Benin, Republic of Ghana and Republic of Congo, respectively, with residence in Abuja. On 30th September, 2021, he has presented letter of appointment as Representative of Bulgaria to the Economic Community of West African States.

From August 2018 to February 2021, he held the position of Diplomatic officer, “US and Canada” Department, “Americas” Directorate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Alongside his functions at the “Americas” Directorate, in 2019 he served on temporary replacement terms as chargé d'affaires at the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Brasilia, Federative Republic of Brazil.

From August 2014 to August 2018, he was Diplomatic officer at the Bulgarian Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York, representing his county at expert level negotiations related to UN budgets and administrative functioning, UN peacekeeping, UN humanitarian assistance etc. In 2018 he was elected as Vice-President of the 58th Session of the UN Committee for Programme and Coordination.

Prior to becoming Diplomatic officer at the Bulgarian Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York, he held expert and diplomatic positions at the “Press Information and Communication”, “Human Resources” and “United Nations and Cooperation for Development” Directorates at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria.                                   

Mr. Yordanov joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2009 as consultant to the Director of the State Institute of Culture.

ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE

Since 2014, Mr. Yordanov is guest lecturer at special courses organized by the Bulgarian Diplomatic Institute to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In 2012-2013, he was lecturer on Foreign Policy Theory at the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication at the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”.

EDUCATION

In October 2014, Mr. Yordanov earned his Ph.D. degree on Legal Studies (International Law and International Relations) successfully concluding two-year doctoral programme at the Faculty of Law at the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”.

In 2013 he was among the selected participants in the 58th Professional Course for foreign diplomats at the Foreign Service Institute of the Republic of India.

Mr. Yordanov earned from the Faculty of Law at the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”                   M.A. degree on International Security in 2010 and B.A. degree on International Relations in 2009.
