Ambassador Rumen Alexandrov was a special guest during the Remembrance Day of saviours of Jews during the World War II. The event was held on the 8th of November 2018 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands and was attended by numerous Dutch citizens, including Jewish survivors during the WWII and their family members, representatives from the municipality authorities of the city of Amsterdam, civil society organizations, media representatives and members of the diplomatic corps in The Netherlands.

During the Remembrance Day event Ambassador Alexandrov had the honour to shortly present the activity and the role of Mr. Dimitar Peshev in saving the 48 000 Bulgarian Jews during the Holocaust. He has also expressed his great satisfaction with the fact that the city of Amsterdam is honouring one of the greatest Bulgarian politicians and citizens from the contemporary Bulgarian history.

The Remembrance Day of saviours of Jews in Amsterdam was organized in the pipeline of the anniversary of the so called “Kristallnacht” from 9 – 10 November 1938 in Germany and Austria, when a pogrom against Jews, synagogues and owned by Jews stores was carried out by SA paramilitary forces.
