E. Ms. NIKOLINA KUNEVA

Ambassador Nikolina Kuneva was born on 12 September 1978 in the city of Dobrich, Bulgaria. She graduated from “Geo Milev” Language School in her home city. In 2001 she got her Bachelor’s degree in “Iranian Studies” from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. In 2008 she acquired a Master’s Degree in “International Relations” from the Law Faculty of the same university.

Ambassador Kuneva started her professional path at the Embassy of Bulgaria in Tehran in 2003. After that she continued her diplomatic career as Iran Desk officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria. From 2009 till 2013 she worked at the Political Section of the Bulgarian Embassy in Ankara. After returning to Sofia she took the post of Iran Desk officer, and subsequently in 2017 was appointed Head of South and Southeast Asia Department at the “Asia, Australia and Oceania” Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Over the years she worked as lecturer at the “Iranian Studies” Programme of Sofia University „St. Kliment Ohridski” and in educational programmes of the Diplomatic Institute to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria.

Since June 2020 she is Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Ambassador Kuneva speaks Persian and English.
