Welcome to the website of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in the Republic of India.

 

"Relations between Bulgaria and India are not of friends, but of relatives" - these words of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi continue to sound today. Both countries share common democratic values ​​and similarities in public and cultural terms. India with its philosophy and culture is well accepted in Bulgaria. For me, I will be proud to promote our country to the Indian public presenting the richness of Bulgarian culture and highlighting the links that unite us.

In 2019 we celebrate 65 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of India. They are the sound foundations on which we build, strengthen and update our relations in all areas.

 

The visits to Sofia by the President of India in 2018 and the Minister of External Affairs of India in 2019 contributed significantly to the resumption of bilateral political dialogue. My primary task will be to look for the best opportunities this dialogue at the high and the highest level to continue to develop. This will make our country even more visible and close to India. And not only to the Indian politics, but also to the Indian business, the Indian investments, the Indian students who would choose to study in Bulgaria, the Indian film industry and to the many more Indian tourists.
