WEEK OF THE BULGARIAN CULTURE (24 - 31 MAY 2011)

Fashion show of the last collection of the Bulgarian company “Zandali” with the famous designer Denitsa Ivanova was performed at Famagusta Gate by Bulgarian and Cypriot models.. The collection included summer-autumn 2011 articles of clothing.  Honoured guest was H.E. Mrs Sotiroula Charalambous, Minister of Labour and Social insurance as well as the ambassadors of Belgium, Italy, Denmark, Slovakia, Hungary, India, Georgia, Israel, representatives of UNFICYP, international organizations and the diplomatic corps. The event was organized by the Bulgarian Embassy and the Association of the Bulgarians in Cyprus.

The fashion show was the last event of the WEEK OF BULGARIAN CULTURE at Famagusta gate 24-30 May 2011, organized by the Bulgarian Embassy and the Association of the Bulgarians in Cyprus. The Week was officially opened with exhibition of posters of prominent Bulgarian artists “The Cyrillic Alphabet and its Messages to Europe” on May 24th, at 19.00 h. The Exhibition was opened by H.E. Mr.Andreas Demetriou, Minister of Education and Culture and H.E. Mr.Vesselin Valchev, Ambassador of Bulgaria. The opening was attended by the EC Commissioner  Androulla Vassiliou - Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth.

A concert of classical music took place on 25 May 2011 at 20.30 h. The Program of the Concert included pieces by the great Bulgarian composer Pantcho Vladigerov, performed by Bulgarian musicians who live and work in Cyprus and by Cypriot musicians who have graduated in Bulgaria.

A number of other events dedicated to 24 May-Day of the Bulgarian education, culture and Slavonic script were organized by the six Bulgarian weekend schools in Cyprus.
