Bulgaria addressed the OSCE Permanent Council on the dangers of Holocaust Distortion and Denial, 7 May 2026
08 May 2026 NewsAmbassador Ivan Gospodinov addressed the OSCE on the dangers of Holocaust distortion and denial.
He emphasised that Holocaust denial and distortion are dangerous forms of antisemitism that should be countered everywhere and at all times, including in the digital space, where such narratives and disinformation can spread easily and widely, reaching new audiences and testing the resilience of democratic societies. Addressing this menace requires the collective efforts of all stakeholders — state institutions, civil society, academia, and religious leaders.
Bulgaria reaffirms its strong commitment to preserving the memory of the Holocaust through education, commemoration, and support for historical research. Fostering historical awareness, especially among younger generations, is essential in preventing the recurrence of such atrocities. In this regard, Bulgaria supports the continued efforts for accurate, evidence-based teaching about the Holocaust and the broader consequences of hatred and discrimination.
