• In recent weeks, the Swedish Police Authority has reprioritised internal border controls in Police Region South, which in principle means that all train passengers will have been checked at Hyllie Station, while most people travelling by vehicle will have been checked at Lernacken (the bridge abutment). The Government welcomes the Swedish Police Authority's reinforced controls and the aim is that these will continue. • The European Council of Ministers has recommended that Sweden prolong its internal border controls. The Government has followed the Council's recommendation and decided to prolong the controls for six months at most, effective on 11 May. In accordance with the Council's recommendation, we will continually review the need for controls and, when appropriate, discontinue them.
