On 9 July 2012, in the framework of the  Model NATO Youth Summit (MoNYS), organized from 8th to 13th July at the NATO HQ in Brussels, the Permanent Representative of Bulgaria to NATO Ambassador Todor Churov met with six of the participants – students at the University of Western Ontario, Canada, representing the “Bulgarian Delegation” to NATO during the MoNYS.

Model NATO Youth Summit is the largest simulation of Alliance’s decision-making process in the world and the only one in Europe, in which 220 students from across the Globe fulfill the roles of members of the National delegations to NATO and of the IS. Within the working sessions of the main NATO bodies the delegates engage in debates and take decisions on of major topics on  NATO’s current agenda, simulating the  activities of  the Council and five committees.

At the meeting with the “Bulgarian Delegation” Ambassador Churov presented the national positions on themes selected for discussion at the NAC and committees sessions. The students were acquainted with various aspects of Bulgarian history, geography, economics and culture. Many other topics of interest were discussed at this informal meeting –  from political and economic processes in our country, through the priorities of Bulgarian foreign policy, to NATO’s role and its 2020 vision.
