The Embassy of Bulgaria in Baku marked the 29th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Bulgaria and Azerbaijan with the opening of the painting exhibition “Bulgaria through the children’s eyes”

With the opening of the painting exhibition “Bulgaria through the children’s eyes” the Embassy of Bulgaria in Baku marked the 29th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Bulgaria and Azerbaijan. 29 years of friendship, mutual support, cooperation and dynamic bilateral dialogue.

In his speech the Ambassador of Bulgaria to Azerbaijan H.E. Nikolay Yankov made a short review of the history of the bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Azerbaijan, established on 5th of June 1992. He underlined that since the official beginning of the relations, Bulgaria and Azerbaijan have been gradually elaborating the basis for more intensive cooperation in different areas, in the spirit of friendship and mutual respect. More than 100 bilateral agreements in the field of energy, economy, transport, security, culture, education, agriculture, military, social field have been signed up to now. Both states reached the level of strategic partnership with the signing of the Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership in 2015, thus expressing their mutual will for deepening the bilateral cooperation.

Ambassador Yankov stressed that in parallel with the evolving of the political relations, the humanitarian contacts have also been developing throughout the years. Examples for that are the functioning of the Bulgarian language and cultural center in Baku Slavic University and the Center for Azerbaijani language and Culture in Sofia University which are the real ambassadors for the mutual knowledge and cultural ties of both countries.

The exhibition “Bulgaria through the children’s eyes” is another proof for the friendly relations existing between Bulgaria and Azerbaijan. Many children showed incredible interest in Bulgaria and managed to recreate the spirit, culture, traditions and nature of Bulgaria with talent and creativity worthy of admiration.

Ambassador Nikolay Yankov congratulated the children on the occasion of 1st June, the World Children’s Day, and wished them to be healthy, full of joy and energy, and to keep developing their talents.
