Ambassador of Bulgaria Kalin Anastasov participated in a commissioning ceremony of solar photovoltaic plant at the Polytechnic University

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Republic of Armenia H.E. Mr. Kalin Anastasov, together with the Rector of the National Polytechnic University of Armenia Mr. Gor Vardanyan and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University and the Deputy Mayor of Yerevan Mr. Tigran Avinyan, participated in a commissioning ceremony of a 30 kW solar photovoltaic plant built on the roof of the 17th building of the Polytechnic University.

The construction of the headquarters was financed by the Bulgarian government within the project "Improving the quality of education through sustainable innovative technologies".

Ambassador Anastasov congratulated the students and teachers of the university on the successful construction of the solar power plant and the beginning of the production of clean and renewable energy. “This year, you are celebrating your 90th anniversary, almost a century in which the Polytechnic University has contributed to outstanding technological education and innovation in Armenia. In this regard, I would also like to congratulate all of the more than 120,000 alumni of the university, as well as the entire engineering community of Armenia. I am happy that with this initiative the Republic of Bulgaria is contributing to the sustainable development and green transition of one of the most respected educational institutions in Armenia," said the ambassador.

The rector of the university, Mr. Vardanyan, pointed out that with the implementation of this project, not only its main goal - the production of clean and renewable energy - was achieved, but also an opportunity was given to improve the professional skills of students and teachers and a significant contribution to the process was achieved of financial stability of the university.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University and Deputy Mayor of Yerevan, Mr. Tigran Avinyan emphasized in his speech that energy efficiency and energy saving are one of the important factors of the modern world. According to Mr. Avinyan, it is important not only to save money, but also for the energy consumed by the university to be "green".
