On 29/09/2021 a meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan and Ambassador Kalin Anastasov was held. At the beginning of the meeting, the Armenian Minister made a brief presentation of our interstate relations and noted that Armenia relies on its partnership with Bulgaria and the EU. He expressed a desire to deepen economic relations and implement specific trade and economic projects. In political terms, he expressed his satisfaction with the traditionally good dialogue at all levels, emphasizing that strengthening our bilateral relations is an area in which he will work actively as Minister of Foreign Affairs.

From his side, Amb. Anastasov congratulated the Minister on taking the office and on the results achieved in the parliamentary elections in June this year. The ambassador pointed out that the high electoral support for the ruling government is a sign of trust and support for the reforms initiated by Prime Minister Pashinyan in the direction of democratization, fight against corruption and the establishment of the rule of law and human rights. He also highlighted that we appreciate the foreign policy of Armenia towards rapprochement with the EU and active bilateral partnership with member states.

In his address to the Armenian Minister, Amb. Anastasov emphasized the solid foundation of our bilateral relations, our historically close ties and the high level of integration of the Armenian community in Bulgaria. Amb. Anastasov expressed a desire to use the positive political potential in the direction of upgrading economic and cultural-educational relations. In this regard, both sides stated that the opening of a direct flight between Sofia and Yerevan will undoubtedly strengthen the dynamics of bilateral relations and provide additional opportunities for development. Also Bulgaria will continue to apply the comprehensive mechanisms of COVID solidarity with Armenia and will work to provide a donation of coronavirus vaccines, as well as, if possible, sending Bulgarian medical experts. Bulgaria will also continue its financial support with the frameworks of the Bulgarian Official Development Aid Program. Amb. Anastasov mentioned that another important matter for the Embassy will be the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations in 2022 and the mission plans to organize events and forums to give additional impetus to the development of our relations.
