Screening of the Award-winning Documentary "Vasko and the Violin" in Berlin

27/10/25

On November 6, 2025, at 6 p.m., the documentary "Vasko and the Violin" - winner of the Award of the State Institute for Culture under the Minister of Foreign Affairs for the best Bulgarian documentary film on art from the 10th "Master of Art" festival - will be screened in the Berlin cinema "Brotfabrik".

The screening is part of the second edition of the DOK-ART festival, organized by the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Berlin, which presents a selected selection of contemporary Bulgarian documentaries on art and artists.

"Vasko and the Violin" tells the inspiring story of Vasko Vassilev - concertmaster of the Royal Opera House in London. The film follows his path from a boy from a remote Sofia neighborhood to one of the most prominent violinists of his time. The film is not only a portrait of an exceptional musician, but also a story about strength, perseverance and family as the most important support on the path to success.

The film is the directorial and production debut of Lora Krumova and Maria Yotova, journalists from Nova TV. Filmed in five countries over a year and a half, the film has already impressed viewers with its previews during Vasko Vassilev's tour in 18 Bulgarian cities in 2024.
