Two Weddings
Zlatyu Boyadzhiev
Zlatyu Boyadzhiev painted "Two Weddings" in 1970 in Paris, especially for the meeting hall of the Bulgarian Embassy, where the painting is currently located. The wedding is a very common subject in his work. The picture depicts two weddings - a Muslim and a Christian one, and the village, over which a minaret, a church bell tower and an ancient tree rise simultaneously alongside the mountains, actually reminds one as grotesque as it is kind of a metaphor of the Motherland in all its ethnographic charm.
