The Mobile Exhibition "Stories from Glagolitic Times" was Presented as Part of the May 24 Celebration in London
An official ceremony was held at the Bulgarian Embassy in London to mark May 24 – the Day of Bulgarian Education and Culture and Slavic Writing. The festive event brought together compatriots, cultural figures and friends of Bulgaria in the crowded halls of the diplomatic mission.
As part of the program, the documentary exhibition, part of the “Traveling Exhibitions” program of the State Institute for Culture under the Minister of Foreign Affairs “Stories from Glagolitic Times”, was opened, which tells about the ancient roots of Bulgarian writing and our cultural identity. The exhibition was presented by Ms. Katalina Vasileva, senior expert at the State Institute for Culture. The exhibition aroused great interest among the audience and contributed to the festive atmosphere of the event.
The exhibition "Stories from Glagolitic Times" consists of 23 panels measuring 100cm x 70cm and was created under the National Scientific Program "Development and Promotion of Bulgarian Studies Abroad", funded by the Ministry of Education and Science and provided for the purposes of cultural and public diplomacy by the Institute of Bulgarian Language "Prof. L. Andreychin" at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. It presents for the first time high-resolution images of medieval manuscripts that tell stories from the life of the Glagolitic.
The event was opened by Ambassador Tihomir Stoychev, and the artistic program included children reciting and performing favorite Bulgarian songs, as well as prominent Bulgarian musicians. The Ministry of Culture's award for contribution to the development of culture, awarded this year to Ms. Maria Stoeva, was also announced.
The celebration ended with inspiring musical performances and a presentation of the project “Ideas without Borders” by journalist Daniel Nenchev and artist Anna Simeonova. On the occasion of the holiday, the facade of the Embassy was illuminated in white, green and red – the colors of the Bulgarian flag.
The participation of the State Institute for Culture and the presentation of the exhibition emphasized the importance of cultural diplomacy and the preservation of national memory abroad.
