Photo-exposition marks 20th anniversary of Germany’s re-unification
To mark 20 years in 2010 since Germany’s re-unification, Germany’s embassy in Bulgaria and the State Institute for Culture at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, present a documentary photo-exposition” From peaceful revolution to German unity”. Ambassador Matthias Hyopfner and Director of” European Union” Directorate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Vasilyi Takev unveiled the event on March 18 2010 at the Institute for Culture gallery “The Mission”.Archive photos and brief reportage texts reveal the historic events unfolding in the German Democratic Republic 1987-1990. Some of the photos feature some of the leading political figures of that transition period, Germany’s incumbent Chancellor Angela Merkel early on in her political career, included. Other photos offer a very good general overview of the last years of GDR as a state.Bi-lingual captions in Bulgarian and German enlighten visitors on the difficult stages and political contradictions on the road to German re-unification, putting them in mind of the newest period in German history and European history.The exposition stayed open at “The Mission” gallery until March 31, 2010.
