The State Institute for Culture in partnership with the 11-th edition of the "Master of Art" Film Festival

For a sixth consecutive year, the State Institute for Culture will be an institutional partner of the Master of Art Film Festival, which will be held from 6th to 26th February 2026. The program presents documentaries dedicated to art in all its forms, and brings to life the stories and works of names such as Michelangelo Buonarroti, Erik Satie, Caravaggio, Titian, Haruki Murakami, Dante Alighieri, Piero della Francesca and many more.

The 11th edition of festival includes screenings in a number of cinemas across the country. The festival will open this Friday, 6th February at 19:00 at "Lumiere" cinema in Sofia with a presentation of the Bulgarian documentary "Zlatyu's Dog" by directors Kristina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov, dedicated to the work of the great Bulgarian artist Zlatyu Boyadzhiev.

As with previous editions, the State Institute for Culture provides the award for the best Bulgarian documentary film. Among the Bulgarian films that will be screened are also "Ahab was here" by director Todor "Tosh" Lichev, "Berlin, Friedrichstadt Palast" by Georgi Toshev, "Wings of the Song" by Milena Getova, "Mister Senko" by Stanislav Todorov - Rogi and "Sisypheans. Testimonies of a Legend" by Vladimir Lyutskanov.

Last year, the award was presented to the film "Vasko and the Violin" by Lora Krumova and Maria Yotova, on the work of the famous Bulgarian violinist. In October, the film was also presented within the second edition of the DOK-ART film festival, organised by the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Berlin.
