In Oslo the Day of the Bulgarian Alphabet, Education and Culture was celebrated with the exhibition "Bulgaria from a Bird's Eye View"
In the week in which Bulgaria celebrates the brightest holiday of its spirit – May 24, the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian Alphabet, Education and Culture and of Slavic Literature – the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Oslo presents the traveling exhibition “Bulgaria from a Bird’s Eye View”. The exhibition is part of the “Traveling Exhibitions” program of the State Institute for Cultural under the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The photos are the work of the famous Bulgarian photographer Alexander Ivanov and show Bulgaria as we rarely get to see it – from above, in all its natural and cultural splendor. The author took the shots during flights with a motorized hang glider for 17 years, over 500 flight hours, to capture iconic landscapes – from the Black Sea and the Rose Valley to Rila, Pirin and Perperikon.
The exhibition is mounted on the fence of the Embassy, as well as on the territory of the residential complex, which houses the Bulgarian Sunday School "Native Language" - a kind of cultural and educational center of the Bulgarian community in Norway. Thus, the exhibition becomes an accessible and inspiring bridge between Bulgaria and its diaspora, as well as between our country and the Norwegian public.
On the occasion of the holiday, on May 24, two special panels will be added to the photographs - one dedicated to the Cyrillic alphabet, in the LIK font, created and provided by the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency, and the other - to the Glagolitic alphabet. They will remain permanently on the facade of the building that houses the school, as a symbol and reminder of Bulgaria's great contribution to the world cultural heritage - the creation of Bulgarian writing and the preservation of the work of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius.
