On January 27, 2025, the exhibition "Memory and Posters" presented by the State Institute for Culture will be opened at the Regional History Museum - Ruse. The official opening of the exhibition is scheduled for 6 p.m., and an hour before that an open discussion will be held on the topic of Holocaust memory, the historical and moral aspects of the events of 80 years ago. The presentation at the museum is dedicated to the International Day in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.

The exhibition "Memory and Posters" presents a collection of 23 posters created by 12 contemporary Bulgarian poster artists, winners of awards from the International Triennial of the Stage Poster - Sofia and from other international forums - Anna Simeonova, Ivan Kashlakov, Kiril Zlatkov, Lyuba Tomova, Margarita Doncheva, Maya Staykova, Mila Lozanova, Nenko Atanasov, Petar Chuchuligov, Radoslava Boor and Strahil Dimitrov, and a special guest is the Hungarian poster artist Peter Poch. The artworks interpret themes such as destruction, salvation and memory of the Holocaust through the visual language of the poster.

The collection of posters was created within the framework of the project "Strategic Cooperation between Bulgaria and Norway in Support of Bulgaria's International Commitments to Combat Anti-Semitism and the Preservation of Jewish Heritage", and is also dedicated to the theme of the 80th anniversary of the rescue of Bulgarian Jews during World War II. It was implemented by the State Institute for Culture under the Minister of Foreign Affairs in partnership with the International Triennial of the Stage Poster - Sofia.

Two creative workshops were held to create the posters in 2023. The first took place in Samokov, where the authors learned about the rich history of the Jewish community in the region. In a series of discussions and presentations with the participation of Prof. Daniel Vachkov, Bisera Yosifova - Executive Director of the 13 Centuries Bulgaria Fund, Albena Spasova from the Triennial of the Stage Poster and experts from the State Institute for Culture, the participants had the opportunity to discuss the goals of the project, little-known aspects of the history of the Holocaust and Bulgaria, and the history of the Jewish community in Samokov. The second workshop was organized in Sofia and led by the world-famous Hungarian poster artist Peter Poch, whose work is known for its socially engaged messages. The authors presented their finished projects at the end of May 2023, which led to the formation of the entire collection of 23 posters.

The exhibition "Memory and Posters" has already been presented in Prague, Strasbourg and Brussels, as well as in Burgas, Sliven, Plovdiv, Samokov and Sofia, attracting the attention of a wide audience. Its presentation in Ruse is another step in the mission to preserve the memory of the victims of the Holocaust and emphasize the importance of tolerance, solidarity and understanding in modern society.
